Out on the water with Seven Marine New Zealand

As part of this years Auckland On Water Boat Show, I was invited to go out on the water with Seven Marine New Zealand. I first saw the 627Hp Seven outboard at the Hutchwilco boat show earlier in the year, I was very impressed then. Also I have seen videos of the Seven outboards in action, but this in no way can prepare you for the experience!

I arrived at Z pier in Westhaven Marina in time to see the Intrepid 37 as she pulled alongside the Marina, I could hear the quiet rumble of the two Seven Outboards. Seven Outboards have three different power options 527Hp, 577Hp and 627hp. The Intrepid was fitted with two 627’s, 1254Hp! These 6.2 litre supercharged V8s looks and sound awesome! LED inserts on the outside, you pop open the engine cowling to see the stainless headers nestled nicely inside, completing animpressive look inside and out.

There is any number of colour choices for the LED lights.

I eagerly hopped onboard and we slowly motored out of Westhaven Marina and up the Harbour past the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Once we were out of the 12 knots speed restriction area, we were invited to hold on before the two massive outboards were opened up - any self respecting petrol head would be excited by the sound of these large V8’s accompanied by the whine of the Superchargers! Due to conditions, we couldn’t achieve the top speed of 65 knots, but 55 knots was awesome enough.

With fuel economy at 250 litres per hour, let’s just say if you can afford these outboards then you shouldn’t be worried about how much they use!

Impressive looking inside and out.
